On July 3rd, Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), signed and delivered the second 7,000 CEU dual-fuel PCTC (pure car and track carrier) “GLOVIS SUNSHINE”. This is the 6thPCTC delivered by GSI, which was completed and delivered nearly 2 months earlier than scheduled.

The PCTC has an overall length of 200 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a design draft of 8.6 meters and a design speed of 19 knots. It has a total of 12 vehicle decks, of which 4 are liftable movable decks, which can load 7,000 cars and meet the requirements of Korean Register (KR) Symbol for Electric Vehicles. In addition, it has electric vehicle loading capability and will be leased to Glovis, a specialized logistics company owned by the Hyundai Group of Korea, for operation after delivery.

It is reported that “GLOVIS SUNSHINE” has implemented whole-process lean control during the construction process. This PCTC has achieved the shortening of the commissioning period of LNG system and the forward shift of some sea trial projects, which has significantly shortened the sea trial period, and set a new record for the shortest period of the quay period and sea trial period of GIS’s PCTCs.
