RINA joins the European Industrial Alliance on SMRs

RINA announced its membership in the European Industrial Alliance on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), another step which proves the commitment to innovation and sustainability.

The European Industrial Alliance on SMRs, aimed at facilitating and accelerating the development, demonstration and deployment of the first SMRs projects in Europe in the coming decades.

Through dedicated working groups, the Alliance is revitalizing the nuclear supply chain and improving the conditions for the development of SMRs. Its focus is not only on technology, but also on supporting specific SMRs projects to accelerate their deployment on the European market, making full use of the expertise available in the nuclear energy industry.

SMRs have the potential to revolutionize the energy industry. With the innovative safety features, SMRs offer a way to integrate nuclear technology into a variety of industrial applications, and may even be used in the transportation sector, especially in the maritime sector.

SMRs occupy a small space and enable low-carbon power and heat production, which is critical in areas such as transportation, chemicals, industries that are difficult to reduce emissions (such as steel), and district heating, where emissions are challenging.
