Recently, Wuhu Shipyard formally signed a contract with Transka Tankers, an established Turkish shipowner, for four 40,800 DWT MR1 tankers to be delivered in 2027.
Designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), the tanker is 180 meters in length, 32 meters in width, 16.5 meters in depth. Classed by BV Classification Society, the MR1 tanker meets the requirements of EEDI III specification and is characterized by large capacity, low fuel consumption and green environmental protection compared with the older generation of tankers.
Transka Tankers is subordinate to Akbasoglu Group of Turkey, with business covering energy, tourism, ship repairing and building, etc. It is a veteran ship-owning family in Turkey, which now owns more than ten tankers of various types, focusing on Handysize/MR1 product tankers.
This newbuilding project is the owner’s return to the Chinese shipyard to place an order after 20 years, with the main purpose of replacing the old capacity in its existing fleet.
This newbuilding project further expands Wuhu Shipyard’s product line in the field of MR tankers, which highlights the recognition of Wuhu Shipyard brand by European customers.
