SWS signs 114,000 DWT LR2 tanker construction contract with EPS

On June 27, China Shipbuilding Trading (CSTC), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), together with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), and Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) of Singapore held a signing ceremony for the construction contract of 114,000 DWT LR2 product oil/crude oil tanker in Shanghai.

It is understood that this LR2 tanker is independently developed by SWS, with an overall length of 243.95 meters, a beam of 44 meters, a structural draught of 14.7 meters, a structural draught of 15 meters. And its emission standard meets the IMO TIER III standard, \ the EEDI energy-efficiency index reaches Phase3.

After more than 60 years of development, EPS has grown to be one of the largest independent shipowners in the world, and is one of the important partners of CSTC.

Since 2019, CSTC has joined hands with SWS, Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI), Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding, Jiangnan Shipbuilding and other companies to sign a total of more than 30 newbuildings with EPS, involving a variety of ships such as bulk carriers, oil tankers, VLACs, etc., which has helped shipbuilders to further increase the market share of their products and enhance the influence of China’s shipbuilding brand in the market.
