DSOC kicked off the construction of a LCO₂ Carrier ahead of schedule

On June 26th, Dalian Shipbuilding & Offshore (DSOC) kicked off the construction of the G7500 LCO₂ project for Bernhard Schulte Group of Germany in advance. It is the first Liquid Carbon Dioxide (LCO₂) Carrier built for Bernhard Schulte and the fourth of the global LCO₂ Carriers built by DSOC.

It is reported that this LCO₂ Carrier is equipped with advanced devices such as C-type liquid cargo tanks processed with special materials, LNG dual-fuel main engine, emission detection system for sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides, rotor sails and bubble drag reduction etc., which not only meets the requirements of the most advanced Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI Phase III), but also strengthens the match between the LCO₂ Carrier and the terminals, dramatically shortens the time of unloading the liquid cargoes, and significantly reduces the operating costs.

After delivery, this LCO₂ Carrier will serve the world’s first offshore CO2 storage project (Norwegian Northern Lights Project) together with the first three units of the same type built by DSOC.
