On June 21st, the Fast4Ward® offshore FPSO (MPF5), built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), for SBM of the Netherlands, was successfully launched.
Based on the experience gained from the first four FPSOs of this series, SWS has successfully completed the hull loading, equipments installation and pipeline outfitting before lauching.
MPF5 FPSO still adopts SBM’s original “universal” hull design, which is based on an FPSO with a storage capacity of 2.3 million barrels of crude oil, and is equipped with a multi-point mooring system, which is applicable to the operating environment in many areas of the world.
SWS has a long history of good cooperation with SBM and this project is progressing very well and delivery is expected to be on schedule.
