SWS completes lifting of the main generator for second domestically built large cruise ship

On June 18, the main generator of the second domestically built large cruise ship H1509 was successfully lifted at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), marked the successful completion of the installation of the main generator system as the “heart” of the cruise ship, and laid a solid foundation for the subsequent outfitting works to be fully carried out.

This lifting operation combined the experience of the first cruise ship construction. With the assistance of Cruise Project Department, Loading Department, Coating Department and other related departments, the Assembly Department 2 of SWS optimized the installation process, adjusted the lifting procedures, created a more favorable on-site installation environment, and improved the outfitting completeness rate of the area before the main generator was lifted.

Compared with the first cruise ship, the adjustment of the construction process of H1509 promoted the earlier completion of the structure between the bow and stern generators and the earlier formation of the area. Together with the auxiliary operation of the in-dock tower crane, the installation volume centered on pipe outfitting has been significantly improved.

By refining manpower input, SWS has saved installation hours and steadily improved installation efficiency, which is in line with the core concept of reducing cost, improving quality and increasing efficiency of the company’s second domestically built large cruise ship project.
