On June 19, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) successfully signed and delivered the third 20,000-ton articulated tug barges (ATB) “MINRES MONTEBELLO” to Mineral Resources Limited.
This series of vessels has an overall length of 123.8 meters, a width of 36.5 meters, a depth of 9 meters, a design draft of 7 meters, and there are 5 vessels in this series.
“MINRES MONTEBELLO” is equipped with 2 sets of full rotating water jet propellers, with the function of articulated combination with the pusher tug, the speed of the combination can be up to 9 knots, mainly used for transferring the iron ore from the quay to the large ocean-going ore carrier.
It is equipped with automatic mooring equipment, single-point feeding system, automatic loading, unloading and transferring integrated system, operated remotely in the whole process, with loading speed up to 10,000 tons per hour and unloading speed up to 6,000 tons per hour, which greatly improves the transshipment efficiency.
During the construction of “MINRES MONTEBELLO”, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) completed the sea trial in only 10 hours, which set a new record of sea trial for 20,000 tons ATB series, and the ATB was signed and delivered 11 days ahead of schedule.
