Recently, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Technology (Weihai) (CHIT) and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) inked for methanol fuel supply systems for two 325K VLOCs and three 114K tankers, of which the first 325K VLOC will be the world’s first methanol dual-fuel powered large-scale ore carriers put into operation.
The methanol dual-fuel supply system project cooperated by the two parties has been successfully deployed on two 16,000 TEU vessels, which have been delivered. COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) gave great recognition to the professionalism shown by CHIT in this project, and was full of confidence in CHIT’s ability of domestic substitution of these large-scale equipments of power category. And both parties will continue to make efforts in the direction of green ships to escort the low-carbon emission reduction for shipping.
The adoption of clean energy to solve the carbon emission problem of the shipping industry in order to meet the ever-increasing greenhouse gas emission reduction control needs will become an inevitable choice for the future development of the shipping industry.
