On June 14, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), together with China Shipbuilding Trading (CSTC), signed a contract for the construction of four 14,000 TEU methanol-fueled reserved large containerships with Peter Döhle of Germany.
This 14,000 TEU methanol-fueled reserved containership is another green and environmentally friendly containership independently developed by the shipyard, which demonstrates its strong strength in enriching the “green genealogy” of containerships through continuous innovation. Also, the signing of this order marks that the shipyard has exceeded the annual operation undertaking tasks ahead of schedule.
The 14,000 TEU containership has an overall length of about 336 meters, a beam of 51 meters and a depth of 30.2 meters, with a capacity of 14,170 TEU containers. It adopts the latest design concept and reserves methanol fuel propulsion solution on the basis of conventional fuel-powered propulsion system, which can meet the ship owner’s demand for subsequent green fuel modification.
At the same time, it is equipped with desulfurization tower and other energy-saving devices, featuring low comprehensive energy consumption, strong speed and excellent green environmental protection, etc. The overall performance has reached the world advanced level, and is scheduled to be completed and delivered in 2026 to 2027.
