On June 12, the air lubrication system retrofit project of Maersk container ship “Huacho” was successfully completed and departed from the berth smoothly.
In recent years, with the increasingly stringent requirements related to energy saving and emission reduction in the global shipping industry, low carbon and zero carbon have become one of the core indicators of current ship design. The retrofit of air lubrication system for ships aims to release air in the form of air bubbles between the flat bottom of a ship and water through ARUs (Air Release Units), forming an air layer to reduce frictional resistance between the hull and water, so as to improve the efficiency of the ship when sailing, and help to realize the goal of energy saving and emission reduction.
The successful completion of the air lubrication system retrofit project of the Maersk Huacho fully demonstrated the technical strength of Xinya Shipyard, and also accumulated more practical experience for future system retrofit projects, which further enhanced the competitiveness of Xinya Shipyard in the shipping industry, and made a positive contribution to the realization of the low-carbon goal of the shipping industry.
