On June 13, China Classification Society (CCS) issued an inspection certificate for COSCO Shipping Container Ship “COSCO Shipping Mexico”, a 14100 TEU container ship, which also marks that the fleet surveyed by CCS has exceeded 200,000,000 gross tons.
After 68 years of development, CCS has been continuously upgrading its scale, technology, service, management and internationalization, taking the initiative to serve the national strategy, giving full play to the leading role of technology and the safeguarding role of ship survey service, and promoting the development of China’s shipping industry, shipbuilding industry, as well as the development of offshore resource development and the manufacturing industry chain of marine products, and making positive contributions to the economic and social development.
The period of 2016-2024 is a critical period for CCS surveyed fleet to make rapid progress and for all ship types to go hand in hand. during the eight years, CCS inspection fleet has achieved breakthrough development, and the mainstream ships, including green, intelligent, river and sea direct, unmanned ships, large cruise ships etc., have achieved full coverage.
The “Great Intelligence”, delivered in November, 2017. It is the world’s first intelligent ship developed by China, and also the world’s first intelligent ship to pass the CCS construction survey, marking that China’s intelligent ship construction technology has reached the world’s leading level.
“Jianghai Zhida1” vessel, was successfully delivered in March, 2018. The ship is designed and built in accordance with CCS “The Code for Construction of River-sea-going Ships on Specific Routes of CCS” and ” Guidelines for Statutory Surveys of Inland Waterway Ships”, and it is the third type of ship which is completely different from the traditional sea ship and river ship.
The “COSCO Shipping Universe”, delivered on June 12, 2018, is the world’s largest container ship with the largest capacity. It was the world’s largest scale and most capacity container ship surveyed by CCS in that year, and obtained the CCS Green Ship additional mark Green Ship II. meanwhile, it was also granted the CCS DFDR (H, m) additional mark.
In September 2018, CCS completed all class inspections and reviews of the MAERSK HONG KONG. After the completion of the class inspection, it also marked that the total tonnage of CCS international navigation classification fleet exceeded 100 million gross tons.
The “COSCO Shipping Planet”, was delivered on September 6, 2019. It is the world’s largest scale and most capacity container ship surveyted by CCS in that year. By now, the CCS fleet covers all classes of large container ships with more than 10,000 containers.
On February 28, 2022, the vessel”Yuan Duan Yang ” was delivered. The delivery of the ship marks an innovative breakthrough and a leading role for CCS in the technical services for large clean energy power ships, as well as in joining hands with the industry to promote the application of LNG as the main fuel on ultra-large crude oil carriers.
“Zhuhai Yun”, was delivered on January 12, 2023. The ship received the first intelligent ship certificate issued by CCS. Zhuhai Yun” is the world’s first research ship with the functions of remote control and autonomous navigation in open water. CCS follows the development trend of greening, intelligentization and digitalization of ships, and takes the lead in the world in launching the Rules for Intelligent Ships, which has gained wide attention in the industry and laid a solid foundation for the development of ship intelligence from the perspective of specification, technology and standard.
“AIDA Magic City”, was named on November 4, 2023. CCS has successfully broken through the assessment technology of cruise ship superstructure strength, stability and safety, and formed the capability of reviewing drawings for large cruise ships. In terms of construction inspection, CCS has set up a specialized cruise ship inspection team, which takes the initiative to embrace new concepts and ideas through learning and training.
In the future, CCS will rely on the technical accumulation of this project, increase the research and development of specifications and standards, accelerate the research of key core technologies of large cruise ships together with the industry, and endeavor to enhance the inspection service capacity of large cruise ships.
Behind the 200 million gross tons is CCS’s internationally recognized standard specification, exquisite technology, and quality ship inspection team.
