Recently, Yu Chai Marine Power (YMP) and China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng (CMJL Yangzhou), a shipyard under China Merchants Industry Holdings, held a contract signing ceremony for 12 sets of main engines, including 10 sets of 5S50ME-C9.7-LPSCR and 2 sets of 5X52-S2.0-HPSCR main engines, respectively.
The cooperation between the two parties began in 2015 when CMJL Yangzhou built a batch of 15,000 DWT chemical tankers for shipowner Terntank Rederi A/S.
It is worth mentioning that the Ternsund, one of the 15,000 DWT chemical tankers in the series, was ranked first among the top ten best new ships in 2016 by the internationally renowned ship magazine Maritime Reporter & Engineering News, and was fitted with the world’s first 5RT-flex50DF low-pressure LNG dual-fuel low-speed marine main engine produced by YMP.
Up to now, China Merchants Industry Holdings has become the largest customer of YMP, and the total number of main engines cooperated between the two sides has exceeded 40 sets.
