China Merchants Industry Holdings cut steel for a 9,300 CEU Methanol Dual-Fuel Ro-Ro vessel

On June 12, China Merchants Industry Holdings held a steel cutting ceremony for a 9,300 CEU methanol dual-fuel Ro-Ro vessel, which built for China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), in Haimen, Jiangsu Province, China.

As previously reported, at the end of March 2023, CMES, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, signed a Vessel Construction Agreement with China Merchants Industry Holdings, a related party, to order two 9,300 CEU methanol new energy dual-fuel Ro-Ro vessels, with a total cost not exceeding US$192 million.

Meanwhile, the two parties signed a buyer’s option agreement for another four 9,000 CEU ro-ro vessels, with a cost of no more than US$96 million each.

The first two of the above vessels are scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2025 or the first half of 2026, and the option vessels are expected to be delivered in 2026.
