World’s Largest Pilot Ship Launched Successfully

On June 12, 2024, the 6000-ton special pilot ship “HU GANG YIN 9”, which was built by Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) (Zhenjiang Shipyard) for the pilot station of Shanghai Port, was successfully launched.

It is the world’s largest pilot ship, with a total length of 120.9 m, a width of 19 m, a depth of 7.8 m and a designed speed of 14 knots. The crew is 45 and it can carry 88 pilots. Full-ship double-engine double-propeller propulsion, with good stability, sea-keeping and anti-wind and waves ability, excellent comprehensive performance.

The ship will serve Shanghai Port Pilot Station, the world’s largest pilot station, providing pilot transfer and transfer services for Chinese and foreign vessels entering and leaving Shanghai Port and ports along the Yangtze River. It will play a leading role in maintaining safe navigation in the sea area of Shanghai Port, improving port operation efficiency, maintaining navigation order, and enhancing the image of a “water gate”.
