Fujian Shipbuilding inked For 16 vessels with EPS

Recently, Mawei Shipbuilding and Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry (XSI), the enterprises under Fujian Shipbuilding, have signed an important contract with Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd. of Singapore (EPS), including an order for four 5,500 CEU dual-fuel automobile ro-ro carriers with options for another four units. In addition, Mawei Shipbuilding and Southeast Shipbuilding also signed an order with EPS for four MR product tankers, which comes with options for another 4 MR product tankers.

The above signed orders not only demonstrate Fujian Shipbuilding’s strong strength and competitiveness in shipbuilding, but also mark the deepening cooperation with EPS, an international first-class shipping enterprise. Dual-fuel Ro-Ro carriers and MR product tankers are both high-tech vessels with significant advantages, especially in environmental protection and energy efficiency, which are in line with the current trend of green development in the global shipping industry.

The 5,500 CEU dual-fuel PCTC has an overall length of 190 meters, a beam of 35.6 meters, a design draught of 8.3 meters and a maximum draught of 9.5 meters with a deadweight tonnage of about 7,800 tons and a speed of not less than 18 knots. Adopting an electric RORO system, the PCTC has 11 decks, of which 4, 6 and 8 are movable decks. It can operate in unlimited navigation areas (except polar waters) and is capable of transporting passenger cars, vans, buses, trucks, freight trailers and other high and heavy ro-ro cargoes, as well as new energy vehicles and dangerous goods packaged within the scope of the IMDG Code.

The MR product oil tanker has an overall length of 182.95 meters, a beam of 32.20 meters, a design draught of 11.00 meters, a structural draught of 13.30 meters, a design speed of 14.5 knots, and can operate in unlimited navigable area. It is suitable for the transportation of product oils, vegetable oils, and liquid chemicals (Class II and Class III) with a suitable flash point of ≤60℃, which can meet the requirements of the IBC specification.

It is reported that EPS is a renowned company with a 60-year history of excellence in the shipping industry, employing 6,000 people and managing a diversified fleet of more than 270 vessels in four core sectors: container ships, dry bulk carriers, gas carriers, and tankers, with a total deadweight tonnage of 28 million tons.

Since Fujian Shipbuilding signed an order for eight 2,900 TEU container ships with EPS in 2022, Fujian Shipbuilding has been actively promoting the design, procurement and construction of the project. At present, Fujian Shipbuilding has successfully delivered 6 vessels and maintained close and good communication with the shipowner, which led to the smooth signing of this order for 16 vessels.
