Mawei Shipbuilding’s first 7,500 CEU dual-fuel PCTC completes sea trials

Recently, Mawei Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding, completed the sea trial of the first 7,500 CEU dual-fuel PCTC (pure car and track carrier) (XS1463E), two days ahead of schedule.

The PCTC has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a depth of 14.8 meters, a design draft of 8.65 meters and a maximum draft of 10 meters. The propulsion system is designed as single engine and single propeller, equipped with LNG dual-fuel main engine, single bow thruster, electric RORO system, and 13 vehicle decks in the cargo hold.

The vessel is mainly designed for the transportation of all types of vehicles, including heavy trucks, and packaged dangerous goods. Classed by ABS, it is capable of transporting new energy vehicles fueled by hydrogen and natural gas on decks 11, 12 and 13.

During the sea trial, Mawei Shipbuilding conducted effectiveness and reliability tests on the main engine, main generator, rudder system, navigation, automation and other equipments according to the plan, and measured the performance, speed, fuel consumption, vibration and noise.

As verified, the overall performance of the PCTC is excellent and all the equipments are running normally, indicating that the construction of the PCTC has met the design requirements and expected results, and all the items have passed the acceptance inspection smoothly, which has been unanimously recognized by the shipowner and the ship inspector.
