On June 4, Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co.,Ltd (“WS”), an affiliate of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, delivered the first built 13,000 DWT deck carrier to PT SLM Indonesia in advance, which was named as “SLM VICTOR”.
It is reported that the 13,000 DWT deck carrier delivered is the 12th vessel designed and built by Wuchang Shipbuilding for the shipowner, which is also the opening work of the fourth generation series of deck carriers independently developed. The fourth-generation 13,000 DWT deck carrier extends Wuchang Shipbuilding’s self-developed patented double-fin shape, which is characterized by low resistance, high propulsion efficiency and low fuel consumption.
The deck carrier meets the latest EEDI Phase III energy efficiency requirements. On the basis of appropriately reducing the power of the main engine, the ship can achieve the optimization of system energy efficiency, and the EEDI energy efficiency index is reduced by 7.3% by using CFD optimization technology to carry out the matching design of the engine propeller, as well as completing the matching optimization design of the propeller and energy-saving devices.
The bow of the deck carrier is reserved for the vehicle access and the interface of the bow ramp, which is ready for the subsequent conversion and increase of the bow ramp. After conversion, the vehicles can transport cargo directly from the bow to the cargo area, which greatly improves the adaptability of the ship to all types of terminals.
