Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding accelerates manufacturing of LNG carriers

On June 5, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), launched two LNG carriers (H1798A and H1882A) and steel cut for one LNG carrier (H1886A), which marked that these three 174,000m3 LNG carriers have entered into a new stage of construction and the full speed up of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s LNG carriers.

It is reported that the three LNG carriers under construction are Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s independent developed fifth-generation “Changheng Series” LNG carriers, with an overall length of 299 meters, a beam of 46.4 meters, and a depth of 26.25 meters.

The LNG carrier is equipped with a number of low-carbon and energy-saving technologies, features low comprehensive energy consumption, good low-temperature performance, strong cargo-carrying capacity, and easy maneuvering, operation and maintenance compared with the previous generation of LNG carriers. Its carbon emission can be reduced by more than 10 tons per day of sailing, and it has excellent global navigability with access to 120 LNG shore stations on all continents.

At present, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding is handholding more than 30 fifth-generation LNG carriers, and the company is is accelerating the production of LNG vessels, making great efforts to increase the localization rate of LNG equipments to further strengthen the company’s position as a leader in the construction of LNG carriers.
