Diana Shipping’s Bulk Carrier Secures Time Charter Contracts

Greek bulk carrier owner Diana Shipping has entered into a time charter with Aquavita International for a bulk carrier.

Under the contract, Aquavita International will charter the 2013-built Panamax bulk carrier Electra, with a deadweight of 81,150 tons, at a daily rate of US$14,000, less a 5% commission paid to a third party, for a minimum period of October 15, 2025 and a maximum period of December 31, 2025.

The minimum lease term is October 15, 2025 and the maximum term is December 31, 2025, less a 5% commission paid to a third party. The charter period is expected to begin on June 3, 2024 The bulk carrier is expected to generate gross revenues of approximately US$6.89 million over the minimum term of the time charter contract.

Following the completion of the recently announced sale of the Houston, Diana Shipping’s fleet will consist of 38 dry bulk carriers, including four Newcastle, eight Capesize, five Post-Panamax, six Kamsarmax, six Panamax, and nine Supra-Panamax.

The company also expected to take delivery of two methanol dual-fuel powered newbuild kamsarmax dry bulk carriers in the second half of 2027 and the first half of 2028, respectively.

The current fleet, including the Houston, has a combined carrying capacity approximately 4.4 million deadweight tons and a weighted average age of 10.73 years.
