On May 30th, Bureau Veritas (BV) issued the world’s first AIP certificate for cyber security of dual-fuel bulk carriers by BV (China) to Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
The certification meets both the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) Uniform Requirements for Cyber Resilience of Ships (UR E26) and BV Cyber Resilient’s class notation requirements.
In April this year, SDARI was also awarded the world’s first AiP certificate for cyber security for tankers by Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
The award of AiP certificate will push forward the overall strength of SDARI in providing cyber security solutions for various ship types.
In the future, SDARI will continue to uphold the original intention of researching, developing and designing green, safe, efficient and intelligent ships, strengthen in-depth exchanges and cooperation with all parties, provide customers with cybersecurity solutions from design, integration, co-coordination up to delivery, build excellent ships with good cyber resilience, and provide security drive for the high-quality development of the ship industry.
IACS UR E26 is a new rule requirement for cybersecurity onboard, which will be mandatory on new shipbuildings contracted for construction after July 1, 2024, and is designed to realize cyber resilience by treating the ship as a whole, withstanding cyber threats from both external and internal sources, and securing the ship’s safe operation.
