Japanese shipowner Kasuga Shipping has ordered two 40,500 dwt bulk carriers from Jiangmen Nanyang Ship Engineering (JNS), which are expected to be delivered in June and July 2026, according to foreign media sources.
Factors such as the ability to offer earlier delivery dates and competitive prices determined Kasuga Shipping to place a shipbuilding order with JNS.
It is reported that this is the first new shipbuilding order that the shipyard has made public this year.
A few days ago, JNS just delivered one 40,500 DWT bulk carrier to Turkish shipping company Ciner. The order consists of 4 newbuildings, with shipbuilding contracts signed in 2022, and will be fully delivered by September 2024.
Together with the 2 new bulk carriers, Kasuga Shipping has ordered a total of 5 bulk carriers from 2 Chinese shipyards so far this year. The other three bulk carriers are built by New Dayang Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Sumec marine, and the shipbuilding contracts were signed in January and April this year.
The bulk carrier built by Xindayang Shipbuilding has a specification of 64,000 dwt and is the flagship vessel of the shipyard, with a cost of around $34 million.
Established in early 2005 and located in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, China, JNS two shipyards cover an area of 720000m2 , 1000m coastline, with modern shipbuilding facilities. JNS focuses on under 100000DWT bulk carriers manufacturing.
