On May 30th, a commissioning ceremony for Wuhu Shipyard (Weihai) Green Marine Technology Industrial Base was successfully held, marking that Wuhu Shipyard, the inland waterway shipyard with a hundred-year history, has opened a new chapter of “from the river to the sea” in Weihai.
“In just 121 days, a ‘super factory’ of 87,000 square meters was uprooted and put into production on schedule,” said Zhang Zhao, secretary of the Party committee, chairman and general manager of Wuhu Shipyard.
It is reported that Wuhu Shipyard (Weihai) Green Marine Technology Industrial Base covers one 100,000-ton dock and two 50,000-ton slipways, with a total planning capacity of 800,000 DWT and an annual output value of 5 billion. The industrial park adopts the domestic leading intelligent cutting and discharging workshop and intelligent parts assembly and welding workshop with fully automated production lines. It adopts the most advanced dynamic vision technology and thin plate laser composite welding technology. In addition, it is also equipped with intelligent equipments such as AGV automatic barge robots, by which robots replace traditional manual operation, saving more than 30% of labor overall.
With the help of 4 domestic first-class automated production lines and 4 automated assembly and welding lines, leading products such as 50,000 DWT MR tankers and 3,000~10,000 CEU PCTCs will be built in batch here. After put into operation, the industrial park can realize the annual production capacity of 8 MR tankers, 4 PCTC. At present, the orders have been scheduled to 2028.
“The market value-added of the vessels built at this base is relatively high, such as MR tankers whose cost is basically more than 40 million dollars. The annual output value is about RMB 700 million to RMB 800 million this year, about RMB 3 billion next year, and we hope to be able to achieve RMB 5 billion per year in 2026.” Zhang Zhao said.
It is reported that relying on Wuhu Shipyard’s hundred years of shipbuilding experience and heavy technical heritage, Wuhu Shipyard (Weihai) Green Marine Technology Industrial Base will actively engage in the automobile export transportation market and energy transportation and other series of high-end ship market.
Simultaneously, the completion of Wuhu Shipyard (Weihai) Green Marine Technology Industrial Base not only optimizes the production layout of Wuhu Shipyard, but also serves as an important guarantee base for Wuhu Shipyard to further deepen the export service of automobile logistics. It is also an important part of Wuhu Shipbuilding’s 2028 50 billion strategic output value target.
It is understood that at present, relying on 63 kilometers of golden coastline and 19 kilometers of high-quality port terminal resources, Weihai Economic and Technological Development Zone has brought together a number of marine equipment “leading” enterprises, such as China Merchants Jingling Shipyard (Weihai) Co. Ltd. CMJL (Weihai), Shandong Electric Cable and other marine equipment enterprises.
Wuhu Shipyard (Weihai) Green Marine Technology Industrial Base will stimulate the opening area of the marine and offshore engineering equipment industry chain effect in Weihai Economic and Technological Development Zone, forming an industrial agglomeration, to play the vigorous vitality and great potential of high-end offshore equipment manufacturing.
