SWS Delivers A 7000 TEU Container Ship

On May 29, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), named and delivered a 7,000 TEU medium-sized container ship, “X-PRESS PYXIS”, which was built for Singapore X-PRESS Company.

It is understood that “X-PRESS PYXIS” is the last one of the series of 12 7000TEU medium-sized container ships built by SWS for Singapore X-PRESS Company.

This 7,000 TEU container ship is a new generation of green, energy-saving and environment-friendly container ship newly developed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

It has an overall length of 272 meters, a beam of 42.8 meters, a depth of 24.6 meters, a full load draft of 15 meters with a deadweight of about 86,000 tons.

The deck can load 9 layers and 17 rows of containers, and the cargo hold can load 8 layers and 15 rows of containers, which can load more than 7,000 20-foot standard containers in total.

In addition, the container ship can be equipped with 800 refrigerated container sockets, and the container placement on the deck adopts a mixed-load design, which can increase the hatchcover and container loading weight on the deck.

It is reported that all 12 7,000TEU container ships in this series were delivered with high quality, and the delivery date of each ship was 220 days earlier than the contract on average. Since SWS delivered the first 7,000TEU container ship in late June 2023, it has delivered 21 units consecutively, with an average of 2 units delivered every month.
