On May 30th, Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), successfully christened and delivered the 174,000 m3 large-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier “Huashan” seven months ahead of schedule.
“Huashan” is the second LNG carrier independently developed, designed and built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding for the second phase of COSCO SHIPPING PetroChina International LNG Transportation Project.
“Huashan” is the fifth large LNG carrier to be completed and delivered after “Shaolin”, “Wudang” and “Kunlun” in the first and second phase of the project.
“Huashan” is the world’s mainstream large-scale LNG carrier, which is independently developed and designed by Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding, with full intellectual property rights. With an overall length of 295 meters, a beam of 45 meters, a depth of 26.25 meters and a speed of 19.5 knots, the LNG carrier is classed by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and China Classification Society (CCS).
The LNG carrier adopts the latest generation of dual-fuel low-speed propulsion power system, equipped with advanced environmental protection devices, and its daily fuel consumption is within 100 tons. In gas or oil mode, the LNG carrier can meet the strictest emission standards of the International Maritime Organization, and features low evaporation rate, low energy consumption, high environmental friendliness, high versatility, excellent economy etc.
In particular, it is characterized by good shore compatibility, flexible route adaptability, reliable berthing at most of the world’s land-based shore stations and ship-to-ship sea transfer conveyor function.
During the construction of “Huashan”, Hudong-Zhonghua focuses on the key processes of construction with high standards and requirements, strictly implements the efficient LNG carrier construction strategy, carries out digitalized construction, pushes forward the application of new technology and new workmanship, and continuously improves the quality of the LNG carrier.
