GTS takes into effect an option order for two 41,000 DWT oil tankers

On May 29th, a contract for two option vessels for the 41,000 DWT tanker project jointly undertaken by Mawei Shipbuilding and Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry (XSI), both subsidiaries of Fujian Shipbuilding, came into effect.

With the option order coming into effect, the number of 41,000 dwt tankers built for German Tanker Shipping (GTS) at XSI will increase to six.

As previously reported, Mawei Shipbuilding and XSI jointly undertook four 41,000DWT oil tankers from European shipowner GTS on November 1, 2023, and the construction of the oil tankers in this batch will be built in XSI.

It is understood that the 41,000DWT tanker has an overall length of about 199m, a beam of 32.20m, a design draught of 11.10m, a structural draught of 12m with a deadweight of 41,000 tons at design draught.

Designed to comply with the latest environmental regulations, the tanker is equipped with a ballast water management system (BWMS) and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system to meet the new International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations.
